In the entire German-speaking realm, Vienna is second only to Berlin in the number of university facilities. The prime product of the Region's and Austria's largest and best array of educational facilities: optimally motivated and excellently trained people.
The region is home to no less than seventeen universities, among them Vienna's Technical University and the Danube University Krems (Europe's only state university of continuing education), and to twelve universities of applied sciences. Total enrolment in the region: more than 170.000 students.
Austria's educational system was placed an outstanding ninth in worlwide rankings (IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2010).
